FAQ
THE VILLAS
Three independent villas — Swell, Tidal, and Peak Suite. Each one has its own private pool, its own entrance, and its own space. They can be rented separately or combined: Swell + Tidal together as The Compound (up to 8 guests), or all three as The Grounds (up to 10 guests).
The villas share the same property but each one has its own private space. The two main villas — Swell and Tidal — sit side by side with enough separation that both feel fully private. Peak Suite is set apart on the grounds. When you’re at Sea Nomads, you won’t see or hear anyone who isn’t part of your booking.
The layout is exactly the same — two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a full kitchen, private pool. What changes is the landscape around them.
Swell is more open — more sky, more light, a covered terrace looking out over the jungle. It feels spacious and airy.
Tidal is surrounded by more trees and denser vegetation — more shade, more enclosed, more nature pressing in. The pool sits tucked into the greenery.
Same wave access, same local knowledge, different feel. If you’re not sure which one, write us and we’ll help you decide.
Peak is built around one very large bedroom — bigger than the bedrooms in Swell and Tidal — with an oversized bathroom, walk-in closet, and shower with outdoor access. It also has the largest private pool on the property. It’s designed for two people who want more space and more privacy. Maximum 2 guests.
Yes. All bedrooms in every villa have air conditioning.
Yes. All villas are cleaned Monday through Friday. You come back from the water to a clean space every day.
Yes. All villas have reliable WiFi on Starlink. Strong enough to work between surf sessions if you need it.
There’s no washing machine in the villas. There are laundromats nearby in La Saladita and Los Llanos. Write us and we’ll point you to the closest one.

LOCATION & GETTING THERE
Sea Nomads is in La Saladita, Guerrero, on Mexico’s Pacific coast. The property is 500 meters from the beach — a 2-minute drive, 10-minute bike ride, or 20-minute walk. The surf break is 5 minutes by car.
No. We’re 500 meters from the beach, surrounded by tropical vegetation. That distance is what makes private pools and 7,200 m² of grounds without neighbors possible. Properties right on the beach don’t have that. We’ll tell you the fastest way to get to the water from the moment you arrive.
The closest airport is Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo International (ZIH), about 40 minutes from La Saladita. We recommend renting a car — it makes the whole stay easier, especially if you’re traveling with boards. We’ll tell you the exact route and what to expect on the road.
A car makes things more flexible, but it’s not required. La Saladita is small — bikes, walking, and tuk tuks cover everything you need day to day. There’s parking near the break and a board storage spot at Mexcalli Surf School, 50 meters from the point — so you don’t need to transport your board back and forth. If you’re not renting a car, write us and we’ll help you set up transport from the airport and make sure the logistics are covered from there.
We recommend renting a car — it gives you the most flexibility and the drive is about 40 minutes on a straightforward route. We’ll send you directions and a Google Maps pin when you book. If you prefer not to rent a car, we can arrange a transfer from the airport with a stop at the supermarket on the way — just write us before you arrive.
The main highway is paved. The last stretch into La Saladita is a dirt road — manageable in a regular car, no 4x4 needed. We’ll give you the full directions so there are no surprises.
THE WAVE & SURF
La Saladita is a long, consistent left-hand point break — one of the longest waves in Mexico. It’s slow and forgiving, which makes it ideal for longboarders and anyone learning or improving their surfing. When it has size, it also works well on a shortboard. The wave is the reason most people come here, and the reason they come back.
Yes. It’s one of the best places in Mexico to learn. The wave is slow, long, and gives you time to stand up, find your balance, and actually ride. Good instructors are available nearby — we’ll point you to the right ones.
Yes. The main break at La Saladita is a longboard wave, but when it has size it works on a shortboard too — long walls, a lot of room to move. Beyond the main point, there are other spots along this stretch of coast that work well on a shortboard. Tell us what you’re riding and we’ll point you in the right direction.
It can get crowded — especially during high season (December–January and Spring Break) and on weekends. That said, La Saladita is a long wave with a lot of room. Even when it’s busy, the wave is consistent enough that everyone gets waves — it doesn’t break down like a peak where only one person can go at a time. We know the best hours to be in the water and avoid the peak crowd. We’ll tell you when to paddle out.
We know the alternatives. There are other spots along this stretch of coast depending on conditions. We’ve been surfing here for years — we know where to go when the main break isn’t working and we’ll point you in the right direction.
October through April is the most consistent window — smaller, cleaner waves, ideal for longboards and all levels. This is also high season, so the break sees more people. May through October brings the bigger swells: more size, more power, genuinely good days for shortboarders. It also brings rain, storms, and occasional hurricanes — the tradeoff for the size. If you want the best combination of conditions and fewer people, shoulder months like October–November or March–April are hard to beat. Write us with your dates and we’ll tell you exactly what to expect.
Yes. There are board rental options close to the break. We know which ones have the best equipment and which boards work best for the wave — we’ll connect you before you arrive so your board is ready when you get there.Yes. We have a storage spot at Mexcalli Surf School, 50 meters from the point — available any time. We move your board from the villa to the storage spot and back, so you never have to think about transport. There’s also parking right near the break if you prefer to drive.
Yes. We know the best local instructors and will connect you with the right one based on your level — whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to improve specific techniques
La Saladita has a tight local community of surfers. Showing up with respect goes a long way. The break is generally welcoming to visiting surfers, especially those who know the etiquette. We’ll give you the heads up on what you need to know before you paddle out.
FOOD & AROUND LA SALADITA
La Saladita has a handful of restaurants and cafes — nothing elaborate, but genuinely good. There are beachfront spots for breakfast and lunch, and a couple of places in the village worth going to for dinner. We know which ones are worth it and will tell you exactly where to go.
Yes. We can connect you with trusted local cooks who prepare meals in the villa. Write us before your stay if you’re interested and we’ll set it up.
There’s a mini market in La Saladita for basics, and a slightly larger one in Los Llanos about 10 minutes away. For a full grocery run, Zihuatanejo (about 40 minutes) has proper supermarkets. We recommend stopping there on your way in from the airport. If you’re not renting a car, we can arrange transport that includes a supermarket stop — just let us know in advance.
La Saladita is a surf town. The wave is the main reason to be here, and most people are happy with that. That said, there are other things to do if you want them.
Fishing trips with local fishermen. Kayak tours. Bike rides through the area. Hikes. Nearby beaches worth exploring. A gym nearby with day pass, weekly, and monthly options — we have a discount arrangement, write us for details. And Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo (40 minutes) has restaurants, nightlife, and everything else if you want a change of scene.
And if what you want is to do nothing except float in your pool and watch the sun go down, that works too.
Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo is about 40 minutes away. It has supermarkets, hospitals, restaurants, nightlife, an international airport, and everything else you’d need. La Saladita itself is small and quiet — most guests leave only if they want to explore.
FOR NON-SURFERS & FAMILIES
Yes. The villas are built for rest as much as surf. Private pool, surrounded by nature, no noise, no neighbors. People come here to genuinely disconnect — not just surfers. If you’re traveling with surfers, you get the privacy and the space. If you want to try the wave, we’ll connect you with the right instructor.
La Saladita is calm, safe, and far from the noise of larger resort destinations. The wave is beginner-friendly for older kids who want to try surfing. The beach is swimmable. And the villas give families real space and privacy. Write us with your group details and we’ll tell you what configuration works best.
La Saladita is a small, tight-knit community. It’s calm, low-key, and hasn’t had the issues associated with larger tourist destinations in Mexico. Use common sense, as you would anywhere, and you’ll be fine. We’re local and happy to answer any specific questions you have.
GROUPS & COMBINING VILLAS
The Compound — Swell and Tidal rented together. Four bedrooms, four bathrooms, two private pools, two full kitchens. The two villas sit side by side on the property, close enough to share the trip but each with its own space. Up to 8 guests.
Yes. The Grounds is the full property — Swell, Tidal, and Peak rented together. Five bedrooms, three private pools, two full kitchens, 7,200 m² of private grounds. Up to 10 guests. Write us directly for availability and pricing.
The Compound is available on Airbnb. For The Grounds, write us directly — it’s easier to arrange that one through a direct conversation.
When you rent Swell or Tidal individually, the other villa may have its own guests. If you want the full property exclusively, book The Compound or The Grounds.
That’s actually most groups. The surfers go to the break, everyone else has two pools and space to do whatever they want. The villas are set up to work for everyone independently. It works well.
BOOKING & PAYMENT
Two ways: directly through Airbnb, or by writing us on WhatsApp. Booking direct is straightforward — we confirm availability, you pay a 50% deposit to hold the dates, and the rest before check-in. If you prefer Airbnb, the listing is there and the process is standard.
Yes. Airbnb charges guests a service fee of around 14% on top of the nightly rate. When you book direct, that fee disappears. The nightly rate we quote direct is slightly higher than Airbnb, but your total ends up lower. We’ll show you the comparison if you want.
It depends on the season:
Low season (July–September): 2 nights
Shoulder season (May–June, October–November): 3 nights
High season (December–January, Spring Break): 4–5 nights
For groups booking The Compound or The Grounds, minimums are longer. Write us with your dates for exact details.
Cancellation terms depend on whether you book through Airbnb or direct. Airbnb applies its standard policy based on the listing settings. For direct bookings, we’ll outline the terms clearly before you pay anything. Write us if you have specific questions.
Bank transfer (MXN or USD), Wise, and other methods depending on where you’re booking from. We’ll tell you exactly what works best for your situation when you write us.
Yes. For direct bookings, we ask for 50% to hold the dates. The remainder is due before check-in. We’ll confirm everything in writing before any payment is made.
If the calendar is open, we’ll give you a short window — usually 2-3 days — to confirm before the dates go back to available. Write us and we’ll sort it out.
DURING YOUR STAY

La Saladita is casual and remote. A few things worth knowing:
Sunscreen — the sun here is strong.
Reef-safe products are appreciated on the coast.
Cash — some local spots don’t take cards. There’s an ATM in Los Llanos (~10 min away).
Bug spray for evenings in the jungle.
Everything for the surf itself — or we’ll help you rent it.
There’s no washing machine in the villas. There are laundromats nearby — write us and we’ll tell you the closest option.
REMOTE WORK & LONGER STAYS
Yes. All villas have reliable WiFi running on Starlink — strong enough for video calls and regular work from anywhere on the property. A lot of guests do dawn patrol, work through the morning, and get back in the water in the afternoon. It’s a good setup if that’s your rhythm.
Yes. For stays of 7 nights or more, we offer a weekly discount. For longer stays, write us directly — longer stays are always negotiated direct and the savings are meaningful.
